Record Real-Time Data Over ODI and Interlaken
When your instrument streams over the Optical Data Interface (ODI) or Interlaken, Conduant records that data straight to disk. These are the optical transports that carry your digitized source data from the instrument into the recorder, at up to 160 Gbps per fiber.
- Records the stream your instrument sends over ODI or Interlaken, at full rate, with no dropped samples
- Up to 160 Gbps per fiber over ODI
- A non-proprietary optical standard, so you are not tied to one vendor's chain
- Works across AXIe, PXI, LXI, VPX, and bench instruments

An open optical path for digitized data
ODI, the Optical Data Interface, is a non-proprietary optical standard for moving digitized data between instruments, processors, and recorders. When your instrument sends its stream over ODI or Interlaken, Conduant writes that data straight to disk at full rate, with none of it dropped. The standard is open, so the path does not lock you to one vendor.
If your source uses a different transport, Conduant also records over Xilinx Aurora and 10 Gigabit Ethernet.
An open standard
ODI is non-proprietary and implemented in FPGA on AMD and Intel devices, so it fits a wide range of front ends across the industry.
Built for high rate
ODI carries up to 160 Gbps per fiber, enough for wideband RF and high-speed digital streams, and recorders daisy chain to aggregate more.
Across instrument formats
ODI works over AXIe, PXI, LXI, VPX, and bench instruments, so it bridges the boxes a test setup already uses.
StreamStor® Cobra Recording System
The Cobra takes the ODI or Interlaken stream off the instrument's optical output and writes it continuously to removable NVMe over a peer to peer PCI Express path, with no host in the way. When one stream is not enough, recording elements daisy chain to aggregate throughput.

- ✓Captures whatever your instrument sends, at the rate it sends it, with no dropped samples
- ✓Records the digitized IQ or wideband stream, often packetized as VITA 49
- ✓Interlaken carries many channels over one link for channelized data
- ✓The SDK covers .NET, C#, C++, C, LabVIEW, and MATLAB, and the system runs commanded over a network link
Full Cobra specifications sit on the product page, and capacity options with the storage and drive modules. The instruments that feed it over ODI are covered on the RF and spectrum and radar and electronic warfare pages. How the recorder holds a rate end to end is on the high-speed data recording page. Built and supported in Longmont, Colorado
Conduant has built recording systems since 1996, with hundreds of installations behind it. Design, build, and support happen in the same building, and the engineer who designed a system answers the phone about it.
- ✓Records out of the box. The system captures your source stream on delivery, with no acquisition software to build.
- ✓Tested at rate before it ships. Assembled, run at the rate it was ordered for, and verified in Longmont before it ships.
- ✓Front-end agnostic. Sits behind whichever instrument the program specced, from any vendor with an ODI or Interlaken output.
- ✓Reach the engineer who built it. Support goes to the design team, with no ticket queue and no forced contract.
- ✓Custom builds in as little as 30 days. When the standard configuration does not fit, Conduant builds to the requirement.
- ✓Made and supported in the United States. Systems are engineered, assembled, and serviced in Longmont, Colorado, by US-based engineers.
Common questions
What is ODI (Optical Data Interface)?
ODI is a non-proprietary optical standard for moving digitized data between instruments, processors, and recorders. It carries up to 160 Gbps per fiber and works across AXIe, PXI, LXI, VPX, and bench instruments, which makes it an open path from an instrument into a recorder.
What Interlaken rates are supported?
The platform supports dual Interlaken cores running dual 150 Gbps links at 12 lanes of 12.5 Gbps. Interlaken is a channelized protocol, so it suits a source that sends many channels over a single link.
Does it work with my instruments?
Yes. The recorder is front-end agnostic and sits behind any instrument that outputs over ODI or Interlaken, from Keysight and other vendors. Because ODI is an open standard, the recorder is not tied to a single manufacturer's chain.
Can throughput scale beyond one stream?
Yes. Recording elements daisy chain so their throughput aggregates, which lets a system take in more than a single ODI stream when the source rate calls for it. Storage scales to 256 TB in a 4U chassis, and more with configuration.
